In MTBdefy we place your safety as our first priority. You will be accompanied along the race with several medical support and first responders’ vehicles such as ambulances, 4x4s and motorcycles, placed strategically along the route with fully qualified doctors, paramedics and nurses. We will also have the support of national rescue organizations such as COPECO in Honduras.
MTB marathons put a large strain on a person’s fitness level and push an amateur’s limits to the max, therefore its essential have the adequate condition in order to cope with this epic challenge. We offer many tips and guidelines regarding, nutrition, pre-race training, mental preparation, and other matters in The Riders section. Its very advisable to check out this section meticulously. General advisable requirements include having a maximum BMI of 24.9, and a Vo2max of at least 40 ml/kg/min , also a 6 month training regimen before the race.
Altitudes in Central America range between 500 to 3000 m over sea level, so there should be no problem with Altitude sickness or AMS. On the other hand, and due to the tropical nature of the climate in Central America, temperatures could reach very high numbers, so we advise riders to hydrate enough before and during the race. Just in case, it’s advisable to arrive to the events location a couple of days prior to the event to get acclimatized
We’ve done our part , now you also have to make an effort to stay safe, therefore it’s very important that you ensure you’re full covered by your health insurance and you complete our mandatory medical form thoroughly, so we can guarantee that you receive the best possible care if you need it.
